About José
Born in Nicaragua and raised in Los Angeles, José Ruíz is a talented
painter, chef, and music DJ who has now been with KPFA on and
off over the last eight years as host of Rhythm Drive and frequent
substitute on Music of the World. On the club scene, José is an
in-demand DJ, having served as house mixmaster at Kimball’s Carnival,
Mr. E’s, La Peña, Caribbean Spice, and various venues.
