Pacifica Radio Shines Spotlight on Obama's First 100 Days

(Berkeley, CA – January 20, 2009) With the swearing of Barack Obama as the United States' 44th President, and the beginning of the 111th Session of the US Congress, Pacifica Radio launches a new program which takes a hard look at how the new government plans to respond to the economic crisis, global warming, wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, health care, civil rights, foreign policy, and the so called "war on terrorism".  The program, titled "Letters from Washington: The First Hundred Days", is hosted by Mitch Jeserich, veteran Capitol Hill correspondent and executive producer of KPFA's Morning Show, and produced out of the studios of Pacifica station WPFW in Washington DC.

"Letters from Washington gives Pacifica Radio the ability to be at the center of the story of some of the most important decisions that will affect the lives of people for years to come," said Jeserich. "We've had 8 years of the Bush administration. It's time to ask now what?"

Letters from Washington: The First 100 Days will begin on Wednesday, January 21st 2009 and will air five days a week, Monday through Friday, on KPFA's Morning Show, starting at 8.08am.  There will also be a weekly hour long version of Letters from Washington that will preview the big issues coming up each week in the nation's capital, airing on KPFA at 1pm on Mondays.
