"You've got to change your evil ways, Baby!"
does anyone know the date show or the name of the woman who was on the morning show about a month ago talking about raw food? she mentioned a shake that she makes and she also mentioned a book i believe. i cant remember who she is.
JR Thank you for bringing us information on topics that are generally not discussed in depth in mainstream media. I tuned in this morning and heard your interview on the situation in Haiti. I would suggest inviting guests of varied views so that the audience can get a full picture of what is really going on in Haiti. Your guest, I didn't catch her name (Alona?) presented a one sided and outdated view of current events in Haiti. She repeated the rhetoric often heard from Lavalas supporters and failed to mention any of the positive developments currently going on in Haiti under President Michel Martelly's government. She did not mention the fact that President Martelly met with former President Aristide in an effort to include the Fami Lavalas Party in the current government and bring healing and reconciliation to Haiti.. He also met with former President Preval. This is unprecedented. Haiti needs all of her children. More Haitian artists and artisans are working now than we've seen in a long time. More children are going to school since the government launched its free education program. She also did not mention that at the beginning of Aristide's campaign, many Haitians from all walks of life supported him as they felt he would bring much needed change to Haiti, however somewhere down the line, his message changed and he launched a full fledged attack on the Haitian bourgeoisie and business class in the form of necklacing (placing a tire around a person's body, dousing them with gasoline and setting them on fire) and enticed the people to violence. She also failed to mention that Cite Soleil is gang infested. The gangs who were paid by Aristide and supplied with munitions by Aristide terrorize the people who live in Cite Soleil and were also paid to cause disruption in the capital. They are largely responsible for the rash of kidnappings that we've seen over the past few years. I personally do not support one party over the other, but what's fair is fair and people have the right to hear the whole story. Politics is dirty business, no leader is a saint. We need to tell the whole truth. Keep up the good work. Peace & Blessings.
To me your show constitutes a great example of concrete local news reporting. While Democracy Now may sometimes pursue news gathering into certain wild right wing swamps in America the news that Glen Beck will soon be broad casting from local radio stations (Beach Front Properties com-modified) is extremely worrying. Please express your dismay to your elected representatives and the FCC.

I was saddened to hear that the guest (who works in a circus) this morning (1/11/12) did not see the animals born into the circus business as being abused. Her arguments could very well be used by proponents of human slavery. Just because a being is born into a particular situation does not mean it is the best situation for them. To breed living, feeling beings for a particular purpose is no justification either.
"The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans any more than black people were made for whites or women for men." - Alice Walker

Who pays for the Community College? Taxpayers
Who benefits from attending Community Colleges? The community.
Who attends Community Colleges? Students of all ages.
Our state governement would rather spend money for other items then for the betterment of the citizens of California. We who value education either need to speak up or move out of state.
I can't believe this conversation. I use medical marijuana and its great. But to spend more than a few minutes talking about it in regards to the presidential race is insane.
Besides MM I also use Avonex via Medicare for my Multiple Sclerosis. I can live without MM, I can't live, specifically I won't be walking long, without Avonex. Romney and Ryan want to give me a voucher that would cover perhaps 2-3 months worth of the medicine and after that I'm screwed. You really expect me to throw away my vote, in essence vote for Romney, as a protest over MM? .
I love Davey D, but I don't need to hear him conduct the exact same interviews twice in one day! I hear the Morning Mix on my way to school in the morning, and usually hear Hard Knock Radio on my way home -- but the last couple of months, I have been turning off KPFA (which almost never happens!) on my way home on Tuesdays, because the Tuesday Hard Knock show has been a straight repeat of that morning's Morning Mix show. What gives??? Do you not think there are folks out here who listen to KPFA in the morning AND in the afternoon?
Again, the information, the interviewer and the source... Superb, sublime and the lesson not to be forgotten. Big ups to the reporters out in the field putting themselves at risk, mining these gems of information for the rest of us to behold. Continue the good, necessary and appreciated work, fellas...nothing like the homies puttin it down from the root-up, it does a hood, a barrio- and every other grassroots community proud! This stuff needs to be taught in public schools, spread in charter schools, regurgitated in private schools and and ignited in community/home schools. There's a student "testing" rebellion afoot, and teachings such as this, need to be the natural successor to the rebellions, so when victories are won in nixing the ludicrous-revenue generating based testings, the time those testings were given should be filled with something of true-value, such as this.
Oh my.....I'm speechless.....what makes KPFA different than NPR? Money funding as far as I can tell....Where is Labor radio news?? The last two Monday shows have been severely lack-luster and today w/ a book review show about Michelle Obama's latest book?? FOR REAL? Can KPFA get more liberal and elitist? Apparently so. KPFA show hosts need to do some serious soul searching and decide if you want to stand alone at a time when we need serious analysis and a deeper understanding of imperialism or if you want to talk about clothes/fashion and how to get another "slave" job to continue perpetuating a dying planet. Very very disappointing show today!
Thank you sooo much Andres for asking your guest, Ashara Ekundayo, who used the word "occupy" on several occasions to promote a business "HUB" (one of more than 50 around the world) what is the difference between a worker-owned co-op, and their model of operation. I laughed when she mentioned that it isn't really a co-op but rather a business where you spiritually own the organization. That isn't an exact quotation...but really close. I am really tired of people who are trying to make work sound more egalitarian when it is anything other than workers owning the workplace. Using the word Occupy to pimp a business is also tasteless, in my opinion.
The Project Censored edition of the Morning Mix is very radical. Thanks for having Sunara Taylor on the show!
I didn't get to the radio until your show was almost over. You were talking about a new book about Dr. King's speech. I thought the title was :The Speech" but I cannot locate it. Would you please send me the author and title. Thank you so very much, .v.
