I'm sure Mr Henwood doesn't

I'm sure Mr Henwood doesn't read these comments, but it's a fact that he's being disrespectful, perhaps even sexist & mildly bullying, as he knows what he's doing. I've noted that whenever a male newsreader or continuity announcer says, "And next 'Behind the News'", he responds,"this is Don Henwood with 'Behind the News'"; but if the airwaves are handed to him by a woman . . . well, we get, "this is Don Henwood with 'ALMOST Behind the News'", with that exaggerated, drawn-out addition.

Listeners may know it started because a new female continuity announcer got the name of the programme wrong, adding the 'Almost'. When she next had to introduce she did it correctly, but Mr Henwood himself added an 'Almost'.

This has gone on for months & months now. In the playground this is called mocking. That an adult does it is somewhat worrying, perhaps a sympton of something quite deep-seated. It should stop. His manager needs to make this occur because his persistent behaviour is unacceptable & harms the reputation of KPFA - not least as it is self-denigrating.

The trouble with school is

The trouble with school is everybody hates it. It's not health care, or housing, or security - sufficient essentials. Education is what goes on all the time. Commodifying it i nto school is essential to our alienation - from our backgrounds our neighborhoods, our people we kiss, our own minds - our own games and riding the two wheeler when we feel like it - instead of having to be taught how; same with all the other learnings. Taking education out of our hands into some structure that well serves our Owners. School Is The Opposite Of Education
