Voices of the Middle East and North Africa - "Saudi Arabia's Regional Ambitions and National Poetry Month"

 

On today's show, we will explore Saudi Arabia's regional ambitions in the Middle East and how US-Saudi relations are evolving. Tensions have arisn between the two countries - how will it effect their long-standing alliance? Host Khalil Bendib interviews Toby Jones, a historian of the modern Middle East at Rutgers Univeristy. He is the author of Desert Kingdom: How Oil and Water Forged Modern Saudi Arabia.
We will also celebrate poetry month with Iraqi born poet Sinan Antoon reading some of his recent translations of famed Palestinian poet's work, Mahmoud Darwish.
