If you read the Gilens paper

If you read the Gilens paper it isn't nearly as impressive as it sounds in the interview. It seems more indicative of an academic tendency in the US of crafting research and data to fit political ends. We can't possibly think that Gilens, in his compilation of the 'unique data set,' actually did substantial research into each of his 1,179 cases to precisely determine their interests and stances on policy decisions. There is too much of a divorce from subtlety with this type of quantitative analysis in political science, I really don't understand why these guys try to make it work...it doesn't. The problem is that his conclusions are probably relatively accurate, but we ought not to build a movement on pseudo-science that can be so easily attacked from the other side. Take the time to look at the paper and its inadequacies will be immediately glaring.

Also the Ukraine guy was indeed quite useless. Maybe not a propaganda artist, but at least biased and poorly informed, don't bite on superficial objectivity or balance. There was far to much left unsaid to take him seriously, lets talk about the IMF Doug.

Critique is meant out of esteem for the program, not maliciousness or pettiness

Thanks Doug

Doug: You kept calling

Doug: You kept calling Gilens' associate Benjamin Sage but the Gilens blog site says Russell Sage.
