The Sudan: Longstanding social political and historical divisions have been the basis for a series of conflict and civil wars that date back to the 1950s. A series of agreements in 2003 showed some promise for peace, but currently attention is on the region of Darfur. Walter speaks with Lako Tongun, Professor of political studies with an emphasis in African politics and political development at Pitzer College.
