Voices of the Middle East and North Africa

Voices of the Middle East and North Africa – September 8, 2004

George Bush administration in the past 4 years has
adopted the policy of pre-emption that resulted in war
and destruction in different countries. Thousands of
people from Iraq and Afghanistan are the victims of
this war-driven administration. It is important to see
differences between this government and previous ones
without having any illusions toward the alternative
candidate of Democratic Party “John Kerry”. It is
critical for progressive forces to analyze the
characteristics of Bush administration, its
motivations and policies. Middle East region is under
tremendous pressure from this administration. We have
interviewed Ismael Hossain-Zadeh, the professor of
Economics at Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa. He is
the author of “Soviet non-capitalist development: the
case of Nasser’s Egypt” and many other articles. Some
of his publications are in his website:

We have also interviewed Susan Galimore the founder of
“MOTHERS SPEAK” about american mothers with their
loved ones in the US army and her experiences during
her trip to Iraq. You can find more information about
this organization at:
