Christmas in Palestine
In this special seasonal program prepared by Johayna Marlow and John Young, we feature exclusive interviews with the Anglican Bishop of Jerusalem – the Right Reverend Riah Abu El-Assal, and with the Mayor of Bethlehem, Hanna Nasser. These eminent Palestinians discuss with us the physical, economic, and demographic effects of the ongoing Israeli occupation and ethnic cleansing on Christian Palestinians, both in the town of Jesus Christ’s birth and across Palestine.

During the program, we celebrate culture as resistance, with seasonal poetry and
music written to raise awareness of the situation in the Palestinian Holy Land – including the Rasta poet, Benjamin Zephaniah’s powerful poem, “Christmas has been shot” and selections from Duo Doloroso’s acclaimed CD, Carols for Palestine.

We are preparing a web-feature on this special program on Christmas in Palestine,
with photographs, poetry, music, links, and further information.
