APEX Express - September 1, 2005It's the first Thurs of the month and time for API hip-hop on air hosted by Kiwi and Maya with the APEX Hot Seven at 7 along with hot topix. On August 4th, 1977, after nine years of fierce resistance, the tenants of the International Hotel, mostly Filipino and Chinese elders, were brutally evicted to make way for a parking lot that was never built. 28 years later, the community celebrates the grand opening of the NEW International Hotel Manilatown Center. Rex DeGuia from the Manilatown Heritage Foundation will talk about the significance of this event to the API community. Erin Dawn Pasaporte and Glen Andag of SAVE (Student Action for Veteran's Equity) will talk about the Filipino WWII Veteran's Struggle as it stands now and how the community can get involved.
