The California earthquake of April 18, 1906 ranks as one of the most significant earthquakes of all time. Today, its importance comes more from the wealth of scientific knowledge derived from it than from its sheer size.
KPFA commemorates the centennial anniversary by bringing you A Documentary titled "The Frisco Earthquake" for the BBC produced by Alan Hall and narrated by Sean Street and features Kathryn Mcneil, Gladys Hansen, Carl Nolte, Stephen Becker, Philip Adam, Susan Stone and James d'Allesandro we are bringing its first airing in the U.S. to you today.. "The Frisco Earthquake" combines the accounts of witnesses, both dead and living with analysis from commentators whose lives have been shaped by the city's turbulent history.
