On the occasion the 58th anniversary of Al-Nakba (The Catastrophe) when the state of Israel was created through ethnic cleansing of a majority of Palestinian people, we will have a conversation with Mariam Shahin, author of Palestine: A Guide, a remarkable compendium of information on the people of Palestine, their history and their culture. Palestine: A Guide takes us on a journey through historic Palestine, guided by some of its most gifted writers, journalists, academics, and photographers. The conversation will explore the 5,000-year history of the Palestinian people, challenging some myths and oversimplifications on the subject.
During the program, we will also hear selections from the CD Promises of the Storm by internationally renowned Lebanese composer and musician Marcel Khalife. All the lyrics in this CD are by the great Palestinian poet, Mahmoud Darwish.
