Lakota Harden and guest co-host Morningstar Gali speak with Jimi Dexter Simmons and director Sarah Bond about the film Making the River, which focuses on the life of Jimi, who was charged with first-degree murder and faced the death penalty. Jimi was appointed an attorney who had never defended a felony case. Faced with almost insurmountable odds that Jimi would be convicted and executed, the Simmons Brothers Defense was formed.
We also speak with Hank and Sherry Lebeau, KQED local hero award recipients.
