Richard Wolinsky interviews Peter Carey, two-time Booker Prize winning novelist, whose latest work is "Parrot & Olivier in America," a fictional re-telling of the story of the young French aristocrat Alexis De Tocqueville, who came to the United States in the 1820s and eventually wrote one of the primary texts on life in this countryat that time, "Democracy in America." Carey talks about his research, and about his feelings toward Tocqueville, and how Tocqueville's discussion about America then is relevant to America today.
