Andrew is a foul-mouthed, ego-driven, pompous, BBC-English-wielding Pacifica lackey scab, (who's ALSO a Teacher on the E. Coast--Gee, WHAT an important guy!), IMHO. I don't need to listen to his ANGRY, guilt-tripping, self-serving diatribes telling me "how HE thinks the station 'should', or, SHOULD be run". He and Arlene (with her dentures) should go out and start their own, new Radio station, on Pacifica's dime. I'm absolutely SURE that they could make one that's much better than we've had here with KPFA since 1949. Then, they can leave us the **** alone. Bingo! Everybody wins!
Andrew Phillips, the Assisstant General Manager is a pompous, angry, foul-mouthed asswipe lackey, BBC-trained interlocutor, who has "no idea" of what KPFA is all about. I don't need him to chastize, berate, swear at me and lay "guilt trips". He and the illustrious pirate, Arlene Englehardt (with DENTURES) are bent on taking (stealing) KPFA away from 'the people'
who have loved and supported Lew Hill's beacon of free-speach. Perhaps these two individuals from Pacifica should just go and start "their own station" with PACIFICA'S money. I'm sure they would "know" how to run their station better than we, the mere listeners and sometime supporters of KPFA know how to "run ours". Then 'they' can do what they want to do to their hearts content. They can make their station as big as they want. Game Over. Everybody wins.
The radio show the Dennis did yesterday, the Flashpoints evening show described the need to listen to the U.F.O. community. I agree, and that is why Jeseritch should be shot into space.
reaction to Bob K. Kraut: The station should be used to increase activities political activities. The workers are a community. The KPFA workers, should work for the volunteer radio station if the attention to costs require that. Obviously the policy has to be changed, if the Brian Tinkers of the world want supremacy is the employment contract. The policy of programming has to confirm the policy of the company, not the world wide struggles in Angola, and Australia. There is a superstructure that costs resources. And there is a political or economic superstructure. You can't tie those together by wishing and making speeches. If you can pay for a station that has an active profile and potential for growth, then pursue a larger political work. Don't start with rhetoric, just work to create a firm foundation and some more political organizations can become supporters. Jeserich should really be placed in an Apollo type capsule and shot up to the moon. He's an ass.
To evaluate the operations demands more effort. I am reading about a political environment in a text by Kronke and Hatch, Management Information Systems 3rd Ed. And I am learning about data analysis. For the latter it is the question about whether the process can deliver the information which can manage what the system is doing. And the political environment is increased by the technology, but it is just a matter of feasibility. Beyond technical feasibility, the cost, and schedule, and political environment are involved. A schedule for having the system produce what is needed, when it is needed. And polical environmtn would be as I read -
Organizational feasibility concerns the political environment. Does the proposed solution fit within the cultural, social, and policy constraints of the department or company? For example, some constraints would apply to security, or control. The technical capabilities (equipment) should be in the limits, and in conformance with the organizational goals in this regard. The type of system which is developed should conform to the organization's political environment.
I often listen to what you put out. I was glad Dennis steered away from Nora Friedman and her views. She was impure. I read that Clinton meant the definition of "is" would be the perception of "truth". We are working with asumed realities. No model can create the real world. Lets not get further away from calling a spade a spade. And I think the manager is way outside the requirements of his job. This problem has a new solution he is not aware of. The organizations goals have to be defined, not shadows of a shadow of the fog. Get rid of this bum.
!
I appreciate your having this discussion because it has illuminated some things for me.
I am only recently starting to listen to KPFA again. I stopped listening and supporting the studio because of the great amount of Arab music played and NO ISRAELI MUSIC AT ALL. THIS DID NOT REFLECT AN INCLUSIVE, PROBLEM SOLVING ATTITUDE. I am Jewish. I am completely opposed to Israel's political policies but I want to be included. Like the caller Larry, who you appeared to summarily dismiss, I feel there has been anti-semitism, which did drive me away.
