Steve Cohen democrat from

Steve Cohen democrat from Tennessee may be correct about the push for legalization of cannabis but he is only giving more fire to the corrupt war on drugs for promoting continuing it against other substances. He seems to naively think that drug crime is mostly due to the addict having to desperately scrounge money together, by theft and robbery if necessary, to get their illegal market driven high priced fix. This does make up a percentage of drug crime but by far the majority of violent crime involved in illicit substance trade, is due to cartels and their marketing specialists( i.e. killer thugs and gangs) gaining market share through the most effective way in a lawless and uncontrolled market: by violence. A world body of much more intelligent ladies and gentleman have concluded that the drug war is a terrible contributor to violent crime and corruption. Harm reduction and addictive drug maintenance can allow the unfortunate addict of prohibited(and thus astronomical in price) to become productive and contributory citizens of the world again. Furthemore, "lily white" front estimable wealthy ladies and gentleman, bankers, the prison industry, lawmakers, et al will rightly lose billions of laundered astronomically priced illegal drug dollars and the tax payer will no longer have to work and sweat to make life sweet for the aforementioned drug war profiteers when the world gets on board with the minority nations like Switzerland, Portugal and a few others who have harm reduction programs instead of the war on drugs. Harm reduction and drug maintenance puts the cartels and the profiteers of the war on drugs out of business. Cohen is stricken with a common, selfish fear and only "drawing a line" will alleviate that personal fear. Well that line is at the expense of others. And those most harmed by continuing the war on drugs are Those others who are users of illicit substances other than marijuana.
