Christian Parenti, author of "Tropic of Chaos: Climate Change and the New Geography of Violence," speaks with Sasha Lilley about global warming, neoliberalism, counterinsurgency, and how elites plan to respond to climate change-related civil unrest and migration in the Global South by further sealing and militarizing the borders of the rich countries.

SMART METERS LINKED TO CANCER.

Utilities and Health Departments based previous safety claims on World Health Organization (WHO).

But June 2011, WHO says Wireless Smart Meter radiation is linked to CANCER (possible human carcinogen – same as Lead, DDT, etc), and that means it also damages bodies & brains (including children’s) in many ways, other than cancer.

Firms are competitive, and

Firms are competitive, and also they are organizations with flexible objectives. A problem occurs when the competition is too tough. The firm in our society strives to stay alive, although it would be better for us, often enough, to buy from a better managed firm. We are caught with a firm that has no advantage except to workers. But workers are very flexible as their training is used for standardized jobs, often.

I am reading the Digital Divide here is the brief a synopsis by author.. An important book reference Digital Divide : Civic Engagement, Informatin Poverty, and the Internet Worldwide by Pippa Norris (Harvard Univ.) publ Cambridge University Press 2001 is the work which is well known. The cover lists the theme as communication, society and politics. It discusses a global divide that is evident between the industrialized and developing societies. The theme is described as questions about civic engagement, and an emerging digital divide. Part II examines the virtual political system and the way that representative institutions around the globe have responded to the new opportunities available on the Internet.

The book focuses on the first ten years of the Internet age. The potential importance of the Internet for transforming the way that people live, work, and play. And beyond the activities, it discusses the causes of the stratification in the networked world. Will the Internet server to reinforce or erode the gap between information-rich and poor nations. see pp. 3 Chapter 1 The Digital Divide.

Few doubt the potential impact of digital technologies for reshaping the flow of investments, goods, and services in the global marketplace. The emergence of a "new economy" breaking the traditional business rules;sectors such as travel and insurance, are fueling speculations.

What about the impact of the Internet on poorer countries? Those without connections are plagued by uncertainty and dependent upon outmoded information. The richer countries have the best capacity to boost productivity in their postindustrial economies. Poor countries are plagued by debt, disease, and ignorance and may ultimately fail to catch up. Most of the world's population lacks access to even a telephone, and exist on the periphery of communications networks. And these por countries are at the receiving end in the distribution of information in books, news, and scholarly research.

Digital networks yet have the poential to broaden and to enhance access to information and communication for remote rural areas and poorer neighborhoods, to strengthen the public discourse, and to lessen the endemic problems of poverty in the developing world. The potential applications are listed as library, school room, medical database, post office and telephone, marketplace and shopping mall, channel for entertainment, culture and music, daily news resources, stocks and weather, and a diverse global public sphere of mixed cultures and inspiration. (source: UNESCO cited in Pippa Norris 2001 pp. 6).

I note the importance of using the dissemination of information, on the projects which are socially significant. Without the cordination, there is little to do to distribute the products of a fair social order, or even to produce. Yet this is not easily done with computers, so farming coops are the best level of economic social arrangement, to allow sustenance and avaid exploitation. Some ideas are AIS (accounting information systems) and systems analysis in operations research. Then there's always Hollywood Park .. Send some books around to our choice venues.
