I am not buying the book. One wonders if this tendency to pin everything on climate change is also a distraction from what some researchers are doing in the ionosphere, for a stronger and a longer security build-up, that exaggerates existing global warming or makes some weather patterns worse? What about the industrial activities that are contributing to the environmental problems - that are not being discussed?
Look at the region that is under focus...much of it contries that the military industrial complex wants to control, dominate, exploit or abuse (my partner is going to be upset for talking so bluntly - something we are no longer supposed to do in the US). Just as nuclear warfare, chemical warfare and germ warfare are used in the fields (during wars) - to conveninetly both test these war technologies and to avoid real detection (as people focus only on conventional technology), now we have "environmental warfare"! It uses hidden advanced science and technology to create food crises, water shortages and political upheavel in places like Mexico, Middle East, Central Asia, South Asia, East Asia, Europe, etc to "dominate their land, resources, governments and end their rebellion or the possible shift to a new paradigm. Is this true? (This is something your own Kaku, who seems to know a lot about how stools are used to detect cancer, has talked about...Maybe science is used to cause it or enhance it).
Even alternative media is not really that alternative: lot of it is selling to the other side to make money, or pretend to care while keeping the status quo. Same people make muchos profits by selling FOX, CNN and then MSNBC - all different divergent perspectives without ever really changing anything. Even NPR was not really that liberal or centrist. It moved to the right long ago, and that is how KPFA came into existence.
I liked Amy Goodman's interview with Assange and Cizek that had two men give their opinions, views and anti-American analyses while Amy, the American, made over 80,000 pounds on the sale of the show and its airing. These guys fell for it.
But Cizek is right when he said that the danger in and of America is that its socialism could be a co-optation into the status quo. Ignorance in old America has been replaced by indoctrination.
Lot of people have drunk the Kool-Aid, and it is usually the poor, the working class and the middle class of the world who suffer from Stockholm Syndrome - whereby they kiss the backsides, with awe, admiration and appreciation for the very people who abuse them, bash them and batter them.
Think of all those Vietnamese loyally doing the nails and toes of American gringos with a stretched smile and obsequesness (that is almost disgusting) while it is American foreign policy that drove them to the US as poor desperate refugees in the first place. So sad!

good job of talking into your chin-chest, Mr. Dowd; of slipping and sliding and running over your words so to be unintelligible. ...or maybe it's just that we whose hearing has become somewhat limited over time don't count as audience?
great show doug- great social commentary Christian
hope you have a speaking engagement in the bay area soon
are you in touch with MPJC- would be great to get you over to san rafael- if you do, i'll help you put together the publicity for the event!
Even tho this is a depressing subject- your presentation leaves me feeling hopeful- that is skillful presentation- would love it if you could co-present with Peter Phillips and Dennis Bernstein or others of your choosing!- I think it would be a sellout event- people are desparate for clear vision. The one topic I wish you had covered is geoengineering- weather modification programs that are on going and how they are also affecting the climate quagmire!
brilliant!!! music!!! and discussion about it.
