I was puzzled by the host prefacing his interview on gay marriage by telling us he was married.
Why?
This is the first time I've heard Mr Henwood disclose personal info to make it plain that he's different from the interviewee.
Is it presumptive of me to say he did it to DISTANCE himself from both someone speaking on gay marriage & a woman the listener would assume is gay?
Very strange.
Perhaps Mr Henwood may explain next week.
Mr. Henwood's personal "disclaimer" stood out for me as well. I agree that bit was puzzling indeed but the interviewee, "beyond marriage"/QEJ Exec Dir, was thoroughly on point for me. I've searched and waited a long to hear my own perspective on the contemporary lesbian (or LGBT) rush to marriage-military-"we're just like heterosexuals" articulated.
I took this as an assurance to his partner that although he understands the reasons why others may pursue alternative domestic arrangements, and even sympathize with their plight and support their rights to live as they please, but he himself was happy within the traditional domestic partner framework. Not in anyway an aspersion on the guest or her organization. Perhaps he will speak for himself however.
ah-h-h-h Bartok...
I don't understand how we can talk about morality when we look at what the money - the gamblers on Wall Street do. Aren't they just 'doing' capitalism? If they were not taking every measure to make more money - if they were being generous, not buying laws regulations the power to be ignored while they advance their grabs - wouldn't that just be socialism - that is, wouldn't things equalize as they'd back off of the huge grabs, others'd step in to get some, to where everyone'd be getting equal shares?
