The teacher was flat stupid, but she was making a point: Are you Mexican....meaning, are you a citizen of Mexico...it wasn't an ethnic reference, it was a nationalist one. Of course, all this is still fresh since the Mexico/USA soccer game in Pasadena. And it's a public school...had it been private, she would have had to grin and bear it.
