Thank you, also, but I include the whole program. The nasty diatribe against Barbara Lee was uncalled for. Perhaps, if the KPFA union people and the Save KPFA group had been more inclusive, this current tendency for KPFA to be the FOX NETWORK of the left might have been moderated, but management bears the ultimate responsibility. If this is what they want so be it. I remember how appalling some of the top level people were at WBAI during the attempted take over of KPFA in 1999. I agree that JR was too passive even in the face of some very fast talkers who had their line down.
thank you
I had to turn off this show in disgust this morning after the guest started talking about communiversities as a strategy for segregation from, as your guest put it: "Europeans. And by Europeans I mean white people." Can you imagine if a guest had talked about fellow citizens as "Africans, and by Africans I mean black people"?
This followed a segment from a guest who considers flash mobs who beat people and rob stores as only "quote unquote violent". Sorry guys, that is plain violence without the quotes. I don't care what color your skin is or what the circumstances are, if you are being violent lets call it what it is.
That same guest also said that to call someone ignorant or violent is to imply that they are less than human. What an absurd statement. The people who robbed the 7-11, as one example, are completely ignorant for risking a prison sentence in exchange for some chips and soda. I'm sure there are economic circumstances to consider when talking about flash mobs, but someone who robs a convenience store for snacks is ignorant no matter how you slice it.
J.R., your reporting is usually pretty good, please don't drop the ball like this in the future. When your guests say something ridiculous, call them out on it.
