On september 11, 2001, it was my usual groggy, guy on disability(albeit ambulatory), insomnia filled night, morning. I turn on the tv and see the towers falling, went back to bed, thought it was the latest special effects movie, put the covers over my head went back to sleep for an hour or so. Then about noon it hit me, this was the real deal.
My brother was out in the yard sitting reading some fiction book. He had not even heard about it yet. When I told him what had happened, without barely lifting his head to acknowledge me, the obsessive reader and perhaps scholar, he nonchalantly said: "Maybe finally the US[corporate/military/covert ops complex]government will stop their exploitative and destructive policies over there[middle east] and elsewhere". Alas, as we have seen the past decade go by, the "complex" has just done much more damage, killed more people, and made the middle east a much more miserable place, many fold.
Since then, I, after doing much research, know now what my elder brother knew back then. That for the sake of the complex and the "Fortune 500" and the foreign corporate elite/exploiters in resource rich third world nations, since ww2 the US lied and ripped off "we the people" by engaging in so many covert operations, overthrows of democratically elected leaders(e.g. Iran's Mossadegh, Chile's Allende, Guatemala's Arbenz, etcetera ad infinitum), backed so many dictators(e.g. Saddam), terrorists(e.g.al qaeda)many overt wars including Vietnam among others, and aided, abbetted, or directly killed millions of common people in the third world, and made life miserable for those who have survived, and since the mid 1970's every president and congress have just pushed back "we the people" in the us of a closer to 1900(thank you Michael Parenti for that last bit about pushing us back to 1900, which they have and still are since the mid 1970's).
There is always enmity between elder and younger brothers, but I admire and love my older brother for saying to me then that put me on the road to investigative truth. I don't know that 911 was an inside job but it was for sure the inevitable blowback or reaction to the nefarious foreign and domestic actions(policies is too much a euphemism) of the US complex, especially post ww2. And it is always the innocents and not the elites who suffer or die still, prior, since 911, till this day.
