I feel, as a politically

I feel, as a politically engaged woman, feel virtually totally marginalized when I listen to your show. Your guests and topics are overwhelmingly male...even though women are over 50% of the population and probably of KPFA supporters. Today is a perfect example.....3 males...and even the segment on the repeal of don't ask don't tell was about "GAY [and lesbian] rights. I don't think it's conscious...that women are always in "small letters', at the margin, the "unmarked" terms. I think you don't SEE gender........and don't even notice how male-focused, and gender oblivious your program is. For example, there is a continuing assault on all forms of reproductive rights, in the U.S. and abroad....you virtually ignore these issues. Including what is happening to contraceptive support in Washington budget fights. But you also ignored the gendered economic impacts of the recession...and the recovery,....the latter benefiting men while hurting women workers. And then issues of violence! Of gendered political outcomes of the Middle East "Spring" [for whom?]
The "left" has long been sensitive to all sorts of "isms" except sexism. But this is 2011....how can you not be concerned with more balance. Just count the number of men you have as guests on your show!! And look at the topics...
Maybe because we women supporters are so used to being ignored, marginalized, our concerns, books, experts, activism, accomplishments, virtually ignored.
But...it will affect my financial contributions to KPFA...now and in my will.
