Introduction by Dennis Bernstein:
“Today on Flashpoints, Occupy Oakland plans a general strike for Wednesday, November 2 [2011]. We’ll have a report on the plans for the strike and we’ll speak to anti-police brutality activist and community organiser Rachel Jackson. Also, we’ll take a look at the media cheerleaders with one of the Directors of Project Censored. We’ll have an update from the roommate and close friend of Scott Olsen, who remains in the hospital in critical condition after being wounded by a cop with a, some kind of, canister. And we’ll have a report from Hard Knock Radio’s Anita Johnson, who was in the streets on Tuesday night getting tear-gassed by the cops that, uh, I guess the out-of-town Mayor [Jean Quan] said was working hard to protect the people of Oakland. We’ll also get an update on the, uh, deteriorating situation in Haiti where the new president is taking the country back to the future by trying to return to the former military. I’m Dennis Bernstein. All this, straight ahead on Flashpoints. Stay tuned.”
