Yes, I agree. I appreciate the digging Dennis Bernstein does, but "leading the witness" is exactly how it sounded. It doesn't do his advocates a service for him to be so overbearing. Unfortunately, it gives ammunition to the careful Machiavellian devices of those such as Brian Edwards-Tiekert, who often comes across better, though as many know, Edwards-Tiekert is carefully contriving so much of his work simply to give himself and his small group of takesters visibility. But, tepid in his coverage as BET (Brian) can sometimes be, Bernstein lends credit to those careful "much truth -few careful lies" disinformers (the BETsters) with this creepy shrill style of badgering interviewees for opinions, not for facts.
extraordinarily important coverage --so good you are there when things like this happens.
The only down side of otherwise 99% excellent reporting was I felt Dennis kind of overdid it when interviewing someone about Mayor Jean Quan, insisting she hadn't apologized, etc I both heard and read the opposite. But worse, it felt like Dennis was "leading the witness" as we would say in a courtroom; he kept putting words in his mouth about Mayor Quan. I think that she should be severely criticized for having let the police rampage against the Occupy encampment, but I also think we should seriously consider who might replace her before pushing so blatantly to get rid of her.
