Admittedly charter schools is another sham - pretense at education. But so has been 'public' school. We're stuck pleading for our Owners' oppressive institution, much as gays had to work so hard to get 'marriage', much as we work so hard to get jobs.
While we definitely need to work to get back a semblance of connection to self/community maintenance just in order to get along, our work has to begin to tell the truths so we can organize for our liberation.
Age segregation is a function of capitalist production. Jobs are our relationship to production, capitalism's workers for the owners' constantly increasing enrichment. You know what marriage is - definitely not per se a good institution, especially where it's exclusionary.
School is the opposite of education. We all hate it.
The control we want over our lives and maintenance of a happy Earth is unattainable through capitalism's institutions.
Education is us all doing living together. It can be done. But we need to say so. We can't keep on urging our unity without being substantial. People backed away before. They will again. They/we know the limits of the stultifying 'left' organizing that calls for imposition of those institutions upon us; yes people say good quality school, work, identity equality. But we don't define it, describe it past what we pretend we've had.
