Dr. Lenoir asked listeners to discuss the conviction of Michael Jackson's MD (of murder).
Inevitably, one person went off on a diatribe about the guilt of Jackson in child molestation, asking why he was never punished for his heinous crimes in this regard.
The answer is in our legal system - INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY! Sorry to shout (capitals=shouting in email protocol), but the fact is, Jackson was not found guilty, due to lack of credible evidence, and in one case his insurance company settled for a large sum against the wishes of his lawyers and himself; he was convicted in the sensationalist press only; and consider that the poor guy was put through hell unjustly. You can not mention his name without someone saying that he was strange and a pederast. Strange - please consider that he was just following the norms in his pop star community in extravagant colorful lifestyle (having a chimp for a pet), and the norms of the medical community in using drugs to alleviate pain (caused by injuries on the job, initially) and using plastic surgery (very prevalent in Hollywood). And feeling that white is the standard of good looks.
Consider that he was targeted by people trying to get big chunks of his money, and wanting to bring down a successful black man. And doing it through his love of children, which most of us share. In a puritanical culture like ours (try comparing us to French or Italian culture, for example) people are obsessed with sex and can't imagine people in bed together, even if raised in a poor family with several siblings to a bed, without being convinced that it is must necessarily be for sex.
Please leave poor dear Michael's personal life alone; your judgements of him are intrusive, faulty, and unwanted. The way he has been slandered is unimaginably unfair and unjust, made him miserable in life, and continues after his death.
