Against the Grain

Martin Hart-Landsberg points out that free trade agreements, such as the one the US is poised to conclude with South Korea, are about much more than trade -- they expand the power of big corporations and strip governments of their ability to regulate them.

Thanks C.S. A really great show.

It'd be good if there could

It'd be good if there could be a push by whoever, 'economists', politicians, educators-intellectuals, people on the ground!!, etc etc
to work to define our lives as being of the wholey trinity: economic political social, so to make evident that capitalism is the combination of the three corralled to serve our Owners. The three have only been substituted as categories in order to make us ignorant and alienated from what actually is.
None of those elements is separated from the others, except as it well argues our oppression. Otherwise, how could we continue to exist only marginally controlled in our enslavement here on the plantation.(not a question)

"It is a miracle that curiosity survives formal education." Einstein
"What does education often do? It makes a straight-cut ditch of a free, meandering brook. ~Henry David Thoreau
"“a schoolmaster is a productive labourer when, in addition to belabouring the heads of his scholars, he works like a horse to enrich the school proprietor. That the latter has laid out his capital in a teaching factory, instead of in a sausage factory, does not alter the relation.” Marx (Today this is called 'public education'.)

We are allowed through 'voting' to choose which of our Owners' representatives will continue oppression of us. (abstracted from a comment by Marx.)
The system after all, is capitalism, immutable. The electeds have little to no choice in the matter, except to further it, or to resist it outright. If they resist it, and tell us truths, and tell us the system needs to be fought, that socialism needs to be fought for, they don't get elected, or they don't get elected again.
"The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress them." ~Karl Marx

"The ideal is nothing else than the material world reflected by the human mind, and translated into forms of thought." --Karl Marx, Kapital,Vol. 1
