Your guest had many interesting points, but his criticism about the failure of the Occupy movement to welcome the homeless warrants a response. Occupy Fresno has had to struggle with how to deal with the homeless. Coincident with Occupy Fresno has been the city's effort to get rid of homeless incampments which left hundreds of homeless with no where to go. Occupy has made food and blankets or clothing items available to them, but simply cannot meet the needs of that many homeless (or Houseless as they prefer.) The Occupy members did stand in opposition to the clearing of the encampments. Unfortunately, the Sheriff's Department then declared that any impropriety done by the homeless, who might have Occupy food in their stomachs, were the fault of Occupy. This has been a difficult situation for the demonstrators.
Chris:
The 11/19/11 segment with Max Richter fell short on informing listeners about impending cuts to entitlements.
Pelosi appointed House members Xavier Bacerra (CA), Chris Van Hollen (MD), James Clyburn (SC); none are to be trusted. Pelosi says she'd consider cuts to entitlements if the GOP agrees to tax hikes.
Reid appointed Senate members Max Baucus (MT), John Kerry (MA), Patty Murray (WA); none are to be trusted.
This 2nd deficit commission was another of Obama's creations. I believe it began this summer, and we should have been active over the past few months expressing outrage at Pelosi and Reid for appointing these people as well as outrage to the members themselves for their willingness to betray us.
As always, the public is the last to understand what's going on.
Here are two real senior lobbies (as opposed to AARP). Both websites have excellent information. I've highlighted links on each.
1. Alliance for Retired Americans (ARA)
http://www.retiredamericans.org/
On home page read Friday Alerts. These weekly communications cover action items, what to do and how to do it. Many action items come with 800 numbers so calls to congress are free.
Under Newsroom Tab, read Friday Alert Archives.
Under Issues Tab, read brief summaries of all issues.
ARA has an affililate in California (CARA), headquartered in Oakland, executive director is Jodi Reid. Perhaps you can put her on the air with updates. We need them.

2. National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare (NCPSSM)
http://www.ncpssm.org/
Again, if you are on their alert list, action items usually come with 800 numbers so calls to congress are free.
Look at Truth Squad button.
Finally, for good information about Social Security
