I like the idea of letting homeless people occupy foreclosed homes, but the people who should have first right to occupy a foreclosed property should be the most recent occupants who were evicted. The more of the evicted 'homeowner''s savings that was lost to down payment, points and interest/mortgage payments, the longer they should be entitled to occupy their former property. If the bank, mortgage broker or real estate agent that sold the property did so via predatory, variable rate, or 'stated income' loan - That company or its agents should be liable for the mortgage payment gaps until the mortgage is adjusted to market or until the evicted homeowner can once again make their mortgage payments.
