SPECIAL: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in His Own Words
Today is the federal holiday that honors Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He was born January 15th, 1929. He was assassinated April 4, 1968, at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. He was just 39 years old. While Dr. King is primarily remembered as a civil rights leader, he also championed the cause of the poor and organized the Poor People’s Campaign to address issues of economic justice. Dr. King was also a fierce critic of U.S. foreign policy and the Vietnam War. We play his “Beyond Vietnam” speech, which he delivered at New York Citys’s Riverside Church on April 4, 1967, as well as his last speech, “I Have Been to the Mountain Top,” that he gave on April 3, 1968, the night before he was assassinated.

Comments
This comment relates to J.R's program. I am not black, but some blacks live next door, here. I do not find Dr. King being relevant to their hopes. They moved into white neighborhood and show no intent to relate to the people, unless they find some one or two black ones. The issue to them is black fascism, e.g., threats to maintaining social structures, moving in to housing and smoking and using, avoiding scrutiny, using I Have a Dream in same way demonization takes place under other banners. After affirmative action good faith, they want to escalate to threats on my block. They want to prove themselves, here. To be better than us here. To have equality here? They miss the point of diplomacy. The issue in the negotioation would be, that this block will consent in sprirt not squash them like a pest. When I negotiate I look up at the social structure, and accept it as the first level of an agreement. And some black fascist is using the I Have a Dream to prove something here. I think that these people want to stop me, thats what Cynthia says to J.R. It might be oh stop me from drones, but it is also stop me from writing, reading, planning, and doin my own things which include moving trouble out of my way, in spirit of my consensus and Right. And you have to show me you have pride in what you are, not may me give you a a place in my thing. Funny, but I thought just now, the Mafia was known as "cosa nostra" which means "our thing". By the way, how many blacks go back to Africa? Is there some law stopping it, - can't go back?
