Just a quick comment with reference to your superb interview with Michael Klare, which I've just listened to over my trusty old iPod.

The Shakers were indeed against sex but not because they were a bunch of Victorian prudes; they were against it because they considered sex as a form of oppression. Back then, women were obliged to give birth to 12 to 15 kids plus so if you asked a woman if she would feel oppressed by birthing so many children...well, that's what's called a no-brainer.

Given the climate currently being created by the fascist freak-show, a.k.a. the GOP, it's kind of apropos.
