The recognition that Single Payer is a key ingredient in keeping health care costs down and providing universal coverage is an example of what the economist Shumpeter called "creative destruction." A doctor has a book called Creative Destruction in Medicine. He sounds a little like Michio Kaku when he talks about the optimistic future through science , especially physics. Is Single Payer an example of how a more efficient method replaces a less efficient system organized by private insurance companies. Talking from this perspective may be the way to win support in the business community. Business people understand how innovation boosts one company while reducing the non innovators. It should happen in health care but the insurance industry has the political power to restrict innovation. Could be a topic for a show.
