The American population is so dumbed down that they are willing to award cult status to a guy(Kaku), who talks at them like they were junior high students.

Spell-binding is a good word to describe Kaku -- he imparts all manner of information that makes him sound like a good guy but in fact as he admits he was recruited into the Berkeley Lab by the father of the hydrogen bomb. He pretends to flail the nuclear industry but in fact he was involved in developing what now threatens life on earth, news he imparts with his usual comedic and self-aggrandizing flair.
He is also the most visible face of the trans-human agenda that seeks to "correct" the human condition. I'm beginning to believe he is one of the first prototypes.
