• Pacific Gas and Electric company says it has restored power to nearly all the San Francisco customers who lost their power in the big blackout that began last night and affected nearly a third of the city
• The struggle over a new Afghan constitution continues, as president Hamid Karzi continues to push for a document that would enhance his own power
• There may soon be a final peace pact to end the 20-year-old North-South civil war in the Sudan, but another conflict is flaring in the western portion of the country
