Cole's either naive or misinformed. Rice has humanitarian motives? Look at her history. One thing that has nothing whatever to do with US foreign policy is humanitarian (or "democratic") concerns.
Again we have the canard of Syria "deploying death squads"...
...Remember the Maine? The Reichstag fire? The Tonkin Gulf 'incident'?
Can you spell INSIDE JOB? We know from his performance in last years
genocide in Libya that Juan Cole is an old hand at the art of studied
cluelessness in the face of the standard western psy ops. But instead
of blaming the may '84 press conference bombing on the Sandinistas
(targeted by the CIA's 'Psychological Operations in Guerilla Warfare'
instructions to "cause the death of...innocent...to be made use of
immediately against the regime") the murders being committed today in
Syria by our Al Qaeda linked 'contrarevolucionarios' (left over from
our crusade against Soviet socialism) are being blamed on the
socialist government there, targeted along with socialist Libya and
Iraq by Pentagon instructions to cause 'a useful wave of indignation'
from false flag operations like 'Northwoods' or (on 9-11-01) plans
for a "new Pearl Harbor" in the words of the Project for a New American Century.... .
According to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ):
"Those killed were almost exclusively from families belonging to Houla’s Alawi and Shia minorities. Over 90% of Houla’s population are Sunnis. Several dozen members of a family were slaughtered, which had converted from Sunni to Shia Islam. Members of the Shomaliya, an Alawi family, were also killed, as was the family of a Sunni member of the Syrian parliament who is regarded as a collaborator. Immediately following the massacre, the perpetrators are supposed to have filmed their victims and then presented them as Sunni victims in videos posted on the internet." preface: using small characters because i am weak with illnesses. also psychologically using small characters easier on my mind(think bauhaus, ee cummings,et al).
fine post. thanks for the link. unfortunately its no longer there: "error 404..." (whatever that means).british, oxford educated economist, "old labour"(democratic socialist) Martin Summers referred to Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on the same incident. i listen to pacifica more than any internet radio station. it is my main source for "the real news" and heart and mind of the former republic become post ww2 bloody empire:usa(see william blum, national security archives, et al). check out bcfm(bristol, england) politics program friday drivetime(2 hr program, once per week). excellent community and international news and commentary program. i stopped listening to the bbc two years ago. they are now as biased for the western corporate/military complex as fox "news". the bbc is just more subtle with its bias. they have to, we have uk government on the leash(bbc=usa empire lapdog, mouthpiece). thanks, dahszil, male, usa
