  • President Bush says he wants to know the facts about any intelligence failures concerning Iraq's non-existent weapons of mass destruction but he declines to endorse calls for an independent investigation
  • In Britain another resignation at the BBC in that country's Iraq weapons scandal
  • San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom to take a voluntary 15% pay cut - he calls on other highly paid executives on the City's payroll to do the same in order to plug the City's budget deficit
  • The Bush Administration wants to waive safety requirements for contractors at nuclear power plants and to scale back clean-ups of nuclear contamination
