I can't find anywhere in the common core standards telling us that we aren't allowed to teach literature to our kindergartners. We follow common core standards at our school and our classrooms are steeped in the richness of literature.
I am unclear from this speaker's comments how the common core standards are really any more evil than the state standards we have already been working under for a long time. She says she is against standards of all kinds unless they are local and have input from parents. That, to me, sounds like a recipe for allowing science curriculum to be taken directly from the bible as that is what many local communities would dearly love to do. Are we really against standards?
