It would be refreshing if

It would be refreshing if Americans could manage to understand that 'England' and 'Great Britain' are not synonymous. Great Britain, aka the United Kingdom, is a nation-state of which England is one component part, the others being Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. Thus to refer to the UK as 'England' is not unlike calling the US 'California'.

Would that be all Americans

Would that be all Americans or just some Americans? Including Canadians? Mexicans? Brazilians? North Americans? Perhaps you'd prefer that we all drill down to your preferred level all the time, but is that really necessary? I submit that when it's really important, most of us do know the difference.
