Could've heard this on All Things Considered. Gerges needs someone on with him who knows about US foreign policy to keep it real.
This guy would be indistinguishable from a White House spokesman but for Mitch's helpful introduction. Pop quiz: how long do you need to listen to this to hear mention of the likelihood that this "chatter" business is a US MIC propaganda?
When they wanted to pass the Patriot Act 2 they pulled Sadam out of a hole...when they wanted to grab our attention again, magically Osama reapears (so they say since nobody saw the body), now we have a national debate about spying, and they pull this out of their hat? Pretty much I'd guess they either planted it, planned it, or will let it happen like 911 at worst case...another false flag operation.
I'm guessing they call it "chatter" because it's encrypted. Perhaps all they know is that a few guys are telling more jokes about the Americans, and the whole NSA deal.
More interestingly I think, this "chatter" is a great way to get the American's to close down some of it's foreign operations.
I also think this chatter is a great way to cause the American's to cry wolf, too many times, and thus start to look more foolish in the world.
