The core object of my career has been to approach political critique from an artistic and imaginative perspective. As Pacifica faces funding crisis the temptation is there to cut
music, theatrical and performing and visual arts review in favor of a harder current events
emphasis. First hand experience alone can never provide an adequate empathetic and multicultural experience for the best political decision making. Our souls are accumulated and not bestowed. The Pacifica charter itself recognizes that condition. I'm sure Richard Wolff would caution program directors that a Red Line exists beyond which sharing information becomes ineffectual because the soul of the broadcaster has been diminished. Courageous Saul Landau could see it, but he is gone. Alas... no more Landaus.Jack Martin
Loved this show and found it refreshing as Art might do for us.
I really really enjoyed this program today... and especially your interview with Steve... Wonderful!
