Thanks, Mitch, for a great discussion about anti-apartheid solidarity work. One missing piece: the movement at UC Berkeley was not just a student campaign. Unions at UCB were involved, especially AFSCME representing non-academic workers, and the TA's union. Faculty also organized and showed support. After all, it was our retirement funds that were invested in companies involved in South Africa. Some of us were arrested, also, and we made it very clear to the UC administration that we did not want South African blood on our retirement benefits. Our involvement is often omitted from the history, even by progressives. You can contact me, if you have more interest in this and have the time. Again, great job. Nancy
