Lewis Sawyer

We welcome the opportunity for service on the Local Station Board. We have previous experience on the Local Advisory Board which may prove useful on the LSB. The position I hold on staff as the receptionist may prove useful for listener access to board members.

1. Why do you want to be on the Board?

In order to serve Pacifica's mission more fully.

2. How do you envision the Local Station Board working with the Pacifica Foundation, KPFA and the community?

I see the local board as having an ear to the community and translating those to the national body.

3. How could the station better serve its listeners?

I think this is an ongoing work in progress informed by the listeners.

4. Describe some actions you would take to increase the influence of the station in underrepresented communities and to increase the diversity of the listening audience?

I think the LSB could be aided in serving the listeners if audio copies of the Listener Comment Line could be made available to members.

5. What source of funding, other than listener donations, do you feel KPFA should solicit?

Social events, music, dance, food to serve as fundraising/outreach opportunities held in the communities of our broadcast area.

6. Please state briefly the skills, experience, education background, work history, organizational affiliations, areas of community service, areas of interest and expertise that you would bring to the Pacifica network as a member of the Local Station Board.

Graduate of the KPFA Apprenticeship Program. Served on Cecil William's staff as intern in community organizing and sound person, Glide Church, San Francisco

7. Do you anticipate missing any Local station board meetings due to family or job related problems or inadequate transportation?

No

8. On which Local station Board committees are you interested in actively serving?

We think we can make a better decision on this matter when we are seated and have the opportunity to confer with other board members.
