The 10th Annual Berkeley Old Time Music Convention

Wednesday, Sept. 18 through Sunday, September 22nd

In various venues through Berkeley including the Niebyl-Proctor Marxist Library, The Freight and Salvage, UC Berkeley's Morrison Hall, the Berkeley Public Library, Civic Center Park and Ashkenaz. 

Featured artists include The Jumpsteady Boys, Foghorn Stringband, Alice Gerrard & Beverly Smith, Dirk Powell, Frank George & Kim Johnson, Suzy & Eric Thompson with Craig Ventresco and Meredith Axelrod, Eddie Bond & Josh Ellis, Big Hoedown, Evo Bluestein, Right To Parlay, Meghan Merker & Molly Tenenbaum and Grace, Clelia & Friends. 

Dance callers include Evie Laden, Jordan Ruyle, Andy Wilson and Beverly Smith. 

Events include an opening night Square dance & party on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at the Niebyl-Proctor Marxist Library, Thursday night concert featuring Jumpsteady Boys, Alice Gerrard & Beverly Smith, Frank George & Kim Johnson at the Freight, a Friday night concert featuring Foghorn Stringband plus Thompson, Thompson, Ventresco & Axelrod at the Freight, a concert for kids & parents with Evo Bluestein at the Berkeley Public Library's main branch, a Berkeley Farmer's Market string band contest on Sat., Sept. 21 at the Civic Center Park, a Saturday night square dance at Ashkenaz featuring Foghorn with Dirk Powell, Jumpsteady Boys, Eddie Bond & Josh Ellis and a Sunday family square dance at Ashkenaz starting at 3 pm. 

There will also be instructional workshops at the Freight, a panel discussion at UC Berkeley's Morrison Hall, Room 125 on Friday, Sept. 20th from 12:10 to 1 pm, a Sunday picnic and potluck location TBA and a post-convention Cajun dance on Tuesday, Sept. 24 with Gros Brouillard starting at 8:30 pm at Ashkenaz.
