7th Annual Walk to End Poverty

On Saturday, May 19, at 10 am, the 7th annual walk to end poverty will take place at the Lake Merritt Bandstand, off Grand Avenue across from the Garden Center at 666 Bellevue Avenue, Oakland. This free event includes entertainment, a community fair and hands on activities for children. Registration starts at 9am and includes snacks, water and lunch. Free t-shirt to the first 600 people who bring a non-perishable food donation. Free shuttle service every half hour from the Lake Merritt BART station from 8:30 am to l pm.

Evening with Jon Fromer

On Saturday, May 19, at 7:30pm, the Social Justice Center of Marin invites you to an evening with Jon Fromer, musician and song writer. It is a benefit for Jon Fromer's medical treatment program. Doors open at 6:45pm. Admission is $10-$35, sliding scale. The concert will be in Angelico Hall, Dominican University, 50 Acacia Ave, San Rafael.

OCCUPY BERKELEY COMMUNITY SOLIDARITY DAY

solidarity event at San Pablo Park, between Ward Street and Russell,
near San Pablo Avenue, in Berkeley.

Harvey Milk Day

On Monday, May 21st at 5:30 PM Harvey Milk Day Planning Committee presents, “Not in Our Town: Staging a Response to Hate” A film about the death in 2003 of transgender teen Gwen Araujo by local youth in Newark, CA, and the response of residents, civic leaders and students.
