"Guns & Butter" investigates the relationships among capitalism, militarism and politics. Maintaining a radical perspective in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks, "Guns & Butter: The Economics of Politics" reports on who wins and who loses when the economic resources of civil society are diverted toward global corporatization, war, and the furtherance of a national security state.

Dear Bonnie,
Could you get Monetary Expert Byron Dale on your show? He was recently featured in the movie "The Secret of Oz" and has written several books on our monetary system.
Here is his contact information.

Thank you so much.
In a similar vein to Thomas' request, I'd like to know (1) what Michael Hudson thinks about "The Wizard of Oz", and (2) how the ideas in "W of Oz" differ, if at all, with those of Stephen Zarlenga, of the American Monetary Institute. Guns And Butter are one of the few places we can hear such ideas discussed.
I think Guns and Butter are doing a great job by investigating about the Sept.11 attacks.
Thanks for providing the live links...
That is the great work done by Guns & Butter by investigating the capitalism, militarism, politics. Its good to know that common people are aware of this.
I was very happy that I found this site. I want to to thank you for this great information!! I definitely enjoyed every bit of it and I have bookmarked your website to see the new stuff you post in the future. I agree with your conclusions and will thirstily look forward to your incoming updates.
Guns and Butter audio CD's For 2010 and 2011, can I order them.
Thank you very much for your interviews with Dr. M. Hudson, Bonnie Faulkner!
As I'm not sure whether he got my last answer or not, and also because you may be interested about the question how to keep the majority of people, within existing social labor division, from simply executing what the Neoliberals tell them to do, I will pass this as my comment:
my last E-Mail:
from: iris.vonwernitz

to: Michael Hudson
concern: Re: neoliberalism
Thanks for your kind response Prof. Hudson!
In my opinion, to slow down the process rank & file union members within state authorities should make neoliberal so-called reforms inefficient by applying the step-by-step transformation criteria which Riese and friends already in the 90s had analyzed about proceeding from common to private property, from so-called command to so-called market economies. To get an idea of the Riese-approach could be achieved by having a close look at his one book and two assays:
Hajo Riese,
- »Geld im Sozialismus«, Transfer-Verlag l990
- »Geld und die Systemfrage«, in: Jürgen Backhaus (Hrsg.), »Systemwandel und Reformen«, MetropoIis-Verlag 1991
- »Das Scheitern des Sozialismus und der Transformationsprozeß«, in: Schikora/Fiedler/Hein (Hrsg.), »PoIitische Ökonomie im Wandel«, Metropolis-Verlag 1992
Not knowing whether you can be interested in german text materials, at least for this special purpose I still recommend them though.
Sincerely,

I don't know what, except mobilize and get your own politicians in. It's

I wish I could say more.

Dear Prof. M. Hudson,
just an answer to this one question, please:
What from labor side could be done today to forcefully slow down or
even obstruct the neoliberal political agenda, and even though most
trade union officials are used to collaborate with such policy?

Dynamite program today, Bonnie. Thanks! Your program is a big reason why I joined KPFA.

As usual, bonnie provides great storytellers to keep us abreast of the general insanity that has become our environment. I continue to send links to this show to my friends- I hope it helps! Even tho' the topics are often very depressing, what gives me hope is that people speak so eloquently about them- I think that when we reach critical mass about who is in charge of the mass deceptions, we will prevail. Sonali Kohatjar had a show on a few weeks ago, claiming that all these conspiracy theories were unjustified. Bonnies show - with critical reporting skill, gives the lie to that claim!!
caught the Webster Tarpley Q & A and became an instant fan of Guns and Butter, looking forward to the next installment.
this man's argument seems equivalent to saying that God created the universe today, but God created it to look exactly like it would if it were several billion years old and had the laws of physics that we've observed (or think we've observed). and further proof: there are still so many unanswered questions about the universe! and physicist and astronomers even admit that there are many unanswered questions and things they don't know!
what pushed me over the edge was his claim that the phone calls from people on the planes to loved ones were part of the "drill." so, it would be more likely a real hijacking if the people on the planes had just continued reading their magazines and watching the movie while flight attendants and pilots were being murdered and cockpits taken over?
You can now be arrested for attempting to make a cellphone call during a commercial flight. Most of the Skyphones have been removed. I have broken the law I guess by attempting to make a cellphone call on a flight from DC to Newark. It will not work as far as I can tell. So I concluded from that "Let's Roll" is a Goebbels-type Big Lie to tug at the heartstrings. I think the guy who is upset with the Tarpley information is sentimental and self-deceiving.Are Americans children who must not have fantasies questioned even in the face of treasonous terrorism? Thanks Bonnie.
I do wish though that the show appeared on the archives a while after it is aired, like every other show on KPFA. Had to go to the doctor today so missed it.
By following the money trail the thugs that have taken over our country can be exposed. The problem is to get the general public to understand. Complex issues are not translated to their understanding well since the mainstream media is controlled by the very people who have taken over our government. Money talks, the rest of us walks. Until it can be relayed by American Idol, there is little hope of the "Average Joe" being on our side of this issue.
Thanks for giving us the bold information so we can see these truths. I have hope people are tired of this criminal activity and will go to the polls to vote the criminals out!
Good morning Bonnie,
Great show as always. A good interview parter of yours would be Bill Engdahl (oil geopolitics) or Daniele Ganser (NATO's secret stand behind armies). Should you need this contacts please send me an e-mail.
Bonnie keep on going with this show.
Greetings from Abkhazia

I can't believe Bonnie Faulkner allowed Hamid Gul to claim yesterday (Sept. 28, 2011) that 9/11 was an "inside job" without challenging such insanity. Al-Qaeda's online magazine, Inspire, just condemned President Ahmadinejad of Iran for saying essentially the same thing last week at the U.N.: "Iran and the Shi’a in general do not want to give Al Qaeda credit for the greatest and biggest operation ever committed against America because this would expose their lip-service jihad against the Great Satan" (see "Stop the Conspiracy Theories, Al Qaeda Tells Iranian Leader," http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/09/28/stop-the-conspiracy-theories...).
I'm sorry to see that KPFA has become the mouthpiece in California for the ISI. When will journalists in the U.S. challenge their interviewees with facts, like a number British journalists do?
check it out :)
"9/11: Explosive Evidence - Experts Speak Out, Part Two", total nonsense. If your purpose is to spread lies on 911 issues, you picked the most successful snake-oil salesman there is on 911. Discussions with Gage are just a Gish Gallop away. If your purpose is to be a journalist, you should be exposing Gage's anti-intellectual approach for making money from suckers. Gage only fools those who refuse to think for themselves. Take a field trip to your local engineering school, and discuss the work of Gage with real engineers.
I find Katherine Austin Fitts very confusing, and probably confused. There are many competent economists to draw on, I recommend that you find an intelligent expert. The 2008 bank bailout did not cost $13 trillion. The New York Times states $2 trillion, and Zandi and Blinder claim $1.6 trillion. Both are significant expenses, but the $13 trillion figure means Ms. Fits is not paying attention to detail. She is not thought provoking. Here's the link to the NYT article: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2009/02/04/business/20090205-bailout-...
Call on someone at Z Magazine, or Institute for Policy Studies, or Jobs for Justice, someone who has responsible opinions.
Katherine Austin Fitts is very confusing and I think there are numerous other left-wing thinkers and economists who can help listeners at KPFA understand the nation's economy. The bank bailout of 2008 cost taxpayers either $2 trillion or $1.6 trillion. You can google "New York Times Cost of the Bailout" and find the article, or "Zandi and Blinder How The Great Recession Came to an End" -- We do not need wacky ideas confusing people. Try Z Magazine or Institute for Policy Studies or Jobs for Justice,
keep up the good work!!!! Truly appreciated that their are others that are awake to this nonsense
Take a field trip to your local engineering school, and discuss the work of Gage with real engineers.
To BenL8: Fitts isn't confusing, she's brilliant and is discussing a sophisticated topic which confuses you. Not her fault. Bonnie is admirable for having her on.
To: Victor & Robert Miller: The evidence and opinions that Gul and Gage present aren't snake oil or insanity. Gage, for his part, has laid out his evidence, his "wares," in extreme detail. Shysters never do that. I'm also guessing that the engineers who are signatories at AE911 Truth all went to engineering school. Anyway, free fall is free fall, even to a layman.
Bonnie has my admiration for swimming upstream, and in her I see (I think) the logical overlap of the progressive and the libertarian movements. I'm grateful for her show. If there were a thousand more like it around the country, I doubt we'd be at war or that we'd be about to lose the Bill of Rights.
Outstanding reality check.. on Ron Paul..... powerfull and incisive
Thanks Bonnie
After my time in the U.S. Army I moved to Northern California and found KPFA. Then I found Guns and Butter- from there: political activist, campaign helper, community volunteer, History and Arabic studies and next year, law school. Guns and Butter motivated me in the right direction for our future. I love you guys and can't wait to make more money and give it back to conscience driven people doing amazing work!
I don't listen to the show anymore. Like most others, the program shows a reluctance to discuss or to get suitable guests on to discuss the subject of the US being an occupied territory.
