Guns and Butter

"Guns & Butter" investigates the relationships among capitalism, militarism and politics. Maintaining a radical perspective in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks, "Guns & Butter: The Economics of Politics" reports on who wins and who loses when the economic resources of civil society are diverted toward global corporatization, war, and the furtherance of a national security state.

sad

Do you see how nuts you sound? Glenn Beck stuff. Soupy Sales and 9/11 next.

how capitalism cannot be made nice

Another good show. Except that like all the other geniuses that figure it all out for us all, and share it in ways that become clearer the more repetitions we urge on us, she is unable to say that the Soviet Union was unable to govern by people's committees, unlike the capitalist committees, was , besides being a novelty, besides needing to work things out, the constant attempt to look good in the eyes of the world and of the local population, blocked the development of the struggle for communism.
I think you know this. It wouldn't hurt for you to interject some more information - that doing what she advises in capitalism will never work - for longer than it takes for forces to ally to take down any efforts for justice.
Communism goes the other way - it messes up at first. As time goes on it becomes able - left alone - not invaded by 19 countries after our revolution; not invaded by WWII - the major cause of that war being to overthrow the revolution - which eventually happened. ....took a while; people loved their revolution.

Guns and Butter:Rare Gem

Bonnie:

The job you do is incredible! Driven by conscience, and obviously a selfless labor of love for your country and those in it. We hardly have a clue of the opposition you face. Guns and Butter is a shining light - piercing the broken government promise of "transparency." It is unique in the New York broadcast landscape (often preempted by fundraising on WBAI.) But you and your outstanding guests (who also risk their lives to speak truth to power) are treasured by the news thirsty in a mainstream media wasteland.

You never know how much good you are doing. May we call take our roles as responsible citizens as seriously as you.

Great admiration and safe travels. God Bless
