PUEBLO (People United for a Better Life in Oakland) proudly presents Dr. Victor Rios, PhD speaking on: Uncovering GRIT through Restorative Justice: The School to Prison Pipeline and the Power of Transformation on May 3, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Castlemont High School, Phillip Reeder Performing Arts Center, 8601 MacArthur Blvd, Oakland, CA 94605. This is a free event. 
Dr. Rios is an award winning college professor, speaker and author of two books: Punished: Policing the Lives of Black and Latino Boys and Street Life: Poverty, Gangs, and a PhD. His personal story of transformation from a drop out gang member on the streets of Oakland to a college professor at UC Santa Barbara is inspirational and compelling. Combined with evidence from more than a decade of research, Dr. Rios' work highlights the power of positive reinforcement in the lives of marginalized youth and young adults. An active and involved community member and mentor, Dr. Rios continues to transform the lives of the people he studies and works with.
