Happy New Year! This morning I am celebrating Australian Aboriginal music in anticipation of this weekend's 3 Didgeridoo Summit concerts in Northern California [see www.stephenkent.net for more details]. Also, as always, January is the month wherein lies "Australia Day", though not until Jan 26th... Note that many of the tracks played here are from the CAAMA [Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association] label, owned and operated by Australian Aborigines in Alice Springs. In any case it seems to me that having a good hour listening to other sides of Aboriginal musical culture than the conventional idea of what that might be is a great way to start the year! This music is predominantly Country and Rock'n'Roll music. You can also listen to this entire show, warts and all, in the KPFA archives for the next 2 weeks.
