Harvest of Empire

Any time the effects of American policies are being exposed, it occurs to me that there can be no end to it until we address the cause: the power inherent in American government breeds bullying. It must be an innate reaction of animals that proves the axiom: power corrupts. Until we figure out how to separate governance from power, the abuse will continue. What would be an effective, constructive and meaningful solution? Perhaps if the people were the executive branch of the government and the judiciary, legislative and president's office could only present the constitutional options for any question to the people for their approval before any "executive" decisions could be made and acted upon? So what if it would be cumbersome? What actions have been taken since Pearl Harbor really needed to be at the moment? Even then, if Roosevelt's behavior before Pearl Harbor hadn't precipitated the attack on Pearl Harbor, Truman might never have thought about using atomic weapons. Power is the drug of choice in an evil empire.

Let me know if you'd like to engage in conversation about what you've written. What you've said skates the surface. I'd like to develop with you ideas I think you have, that identify cause and choice, which this doesn't get to. Norma Berkeley, Ca.

Guns and rights

I am disappointed with today's show enough to take the time to write a comment about it. Despite the position that this show takes on Constitutional rights, rebellion, revolution, and the taking away of tyrannical governmental control you continue to promote ideas of giving the US government (the biggest global arms merchants in the world) the right to take away guns and to amend the 2nd Amendment. Then in a piece right afterwards you promote the armed Syrian revolution, Palestinian revolt and speak against the US blocking arms entering Syria via Turkey bound for the rebels.

After this election cycle it seems more and more that Amy Goodman endlessly promotes the Democratic party's agenda or more specifically promoting anything that goes against their party's agenda even at the cost of law abiding citizen's rights.

I myself do not promote either party's agenda. They are the party of the 1%. However I do promote citizens rights as well as constitutional rights. It's time to be progressive not just proclaim it.

For the people

Democracy is for the people and by the people and the people, the briefing or meaning of democracy is this and as people form the government and people is the supreme power in a democratic government. I suggest the people to make right choices during elections to elect a proper governing machinery for the progress of a country.
