Voices of the Middle East and North Africa

Voices of the Middle East and North Africa – July 14, 2004

To coincide with the declaration of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on July 9th, we produced a special interview. Johayna Marlow speaks with Jamal Juma’ of PENGON (The Palestinian Environmental NGOs Network), Coordinator of the Grassroots Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign, and with Shariif Omar, President of the Committee against Land Confiscation. Shariif is a farmer from Jayyus, whose 175 dunums of fertile land is now behind the wall which runs 10 yards from his home. Johayna is also joined in the studio with Flashpoints special correspondent in Nablus, Anne Gwynne.

Listen to this remarkable interview in which we hear Jamal Juma’, recent delegate to ICJ in the Hague, urging "all people who love peace, who have a sense of humanity, that this is the time to end the tragedy of the Palestinian people." Please visit our web-feature based on this program which includes photographs, links, transcripts and audio files of the complete interview at:
